Arka'n is an Afro-tribal metal band from Togo (West Africa) created in 2010. The present line-up is made up of Rock Ahavi( guitar and lead vocal), Francis Amevo(bass), Richard Cico (drums), Mass Aholou (African percussions),and Enrico Ahavi ( rap and keyboard). Their music is a fusion of hard rock/metal and African tribal music. It's the only music which can express the feeling of the band: they see themselves as warriors, messengers and spokesmen of African wisdom, and their lyrics deal with almost all the aspects of life, especially, how to keep a fighting spirit, tackle social problems, knowledge of self, wisdom, call of higher beings.
They mainly perform in Lome, the capital of the country and in the West African area.
In 2009 Rock Ahavi, guitarist, playing in clubs and accompanying some artists decided to begin a project involving his real passion: hard rock and metal music. He began recording alone some demos on a little fostex vf 80 and began to show it to fellow musicians. They knew about rock but not very much. Sometimes it worked and sometimes not. So musicians came to the band and left. As you know ``It's a long way to the top (if you wanna rock'n'roll)``. Especially in a country where rock music is not promoted at all. And the many obstacles discouraged many of those very first musicians. Anyway, the previous members (Mardochée Habada, Dedeon Montcho, Denis Egah) stayed together for 2 years (2013-2015) and struggled a lot to push the band forward. But at the same time they were involved in other side projects which finally made it difficult for the band to go ahead. So in January 2016 Rock met other rock lovers, devoted to that music, with big dreams in their minds, and they are now the current members of the band.
The new line up carries Arka'n to a new level and increases the band's recognition outside the country.
